This barn owl box has been specifically designed for barn owls. The nest box should be installed in a sheltered position inside a building.
Application
Barn owl boxes are an effective way to provide barn owls with a suitable nesting site. A large proportion of the Dutch barn owl population breeds in nest boxes. The KULT1 is a simple but robust barn owl box, specifically designed as a nesting provision for barn owls.
Design
The design of the box is based on a proven model that has been used since the 1960s. The box is made from robust 18 mm waterproof plywood. Handles have been incorporated into the sides of the box, which also function as ventilation openings. These openings can also be used to lift the box.
Position
Install the barn owl box in a high, dark and quiet position inside a barn, building or shed. The box can also be positioned directly behind an opening in a wall. In that situation, barn owls can fly directly in and out of the box.
Installation
The box can be mounted easily on a beam or fixed to a wall. Screws can be driven directly into the box. During installation, place a layer of peat or a similar substrate inside the box.
Maintenance
The barn owl nest box is best cleaned at the end of the breeding season. Remove excess pellets from the box, but leave a thin layer behind.
