Unitura's Biodiverse Green Façade
We create true habitats with our biodiverse green facades. Each facade is carefully designed to include the elements needed to transform a wall into a vertical habitat for wildlife.
By combining features for birds, bats, small mammals and insects with climbing plants, exceptionally diverse facades can be created. Biodiverse green facades can provide habitat for more than one hundred different animal species.
The opportunities of facades
Many cities have more vertical surface area than horizontal space. A building has four facades but only one roof. Building facades are often overlooked when it comes to urban greening. However, facades can make a valuable contribution to the city as a habitat. By greening facades and combining them with the right wildlife provisions, valuable microhabitats can be created.
Climbing plants as a base
From an ecological perspective, green facades based on climbing plants growing from ground level offer the greatest benefits. Native climbing plants attract a wide variety of insects and butterflies. In addition, climbing plants provide natural nesting sites and shelter for a range of songbirds and small mammals. For this reason, Unitura exclusively uses green facade systems based on climbing plants.
