GG3 | Grip Mesh

Pitched roofs are an important shelter and roosting location for building-dwelling bat species. Modern roof constructions often include vapour-permeable membranes and insulation layers. When these are left unprotected, they can be damaged by animals and may pose a risk to bats. Grip mesh provides a solution by protecting these vulnerable layers, while offering sufficient grip for bats to safely use the space as a roost.

Description

Frequently asked questions

Application

GG3 grip mesh has been specifically developed for application in pitched roof constructions. The mesh is flexible and fine-meshed, allowing it to follow the surface of the roof structure closely. At the same time, it provides sufficient grip for bats, while preventing damage to underlying membranes and insulation layers. The integrated fibre reinforcement improves strength and ensures that the mesh does not tear during installation. This also makes the mesh more robust and suitable for installation on the roof.

The product is currently undergoing a pilling test.

Position

The grip mesh is applied within the roof build-up, directly on top of the roof decking, covering membranes. It is optimally installed beneath the counter battens and tile battens. Where prefabricated roof panels with pre-installed battens are used, the mesh is flexible enough to be folded over the battens. It is important that no voids remain between the mesh and the roof surface.

Installation

Fix the mesh securely on both sides of the battens, for example using staples. Ensure the mesh is installed tightly against the roof construction to prevent gaps. If required, only part of the roof surface can be covered, for example a strip along the roof edge.

Important

Grip mesh is used to protect vulnerable construction layers while creating a usable roost for bats. Without protection, vapour-permeable membranes can become damaged or frayed, which may lead to entanglement of bats. Correct application of grip mesh helps prevent these issues while supporting safe use of the structure.
