Under mitigation schemes, swift provisions generally fall into two categories: permanent swift boxes and temporary swift provisions. Temporary provisions are intended to function as replacement nesting sites during construction works. These temporary nesting opportunities must remain available until permanent nesting features have been installed within the new building. Permanent swift boxes therefore need to provide a highly durable solution, ensuring suitable nesting opportunities are available for many years to come.
