This basic integrated starling brick is designed for starlings and can be easily incorporated into masonry.
Within this product line, similar nestboxes are also available for other target species, such as the GZP2 (swift), HMP2 (house sparrow), VLP1 (butterfly), ISP1 (insects), and HOP1 (semicavity breeders).
Suitable for
This nest box has been specifically designed for the mitigation of starling nesting sites. The boxes can be installed either in clusters or individually. In addition to starlings, great tits and house sparrows may also use this box.
Design
The box is made from woodcrete. During the design process, specific attention was paid to the depth of the box. Thanks to its limited depth, the box can also be integrated effectively into the façades of houses which have limited cavity space.
Because of its discreet design, the nest box can be installed in almost any façade type.
If the box is installed slightly recessed, it can be finished with brick slips or render, allowing it to be integrated completely invisibly into the façade. Several boxes can also be incorporated into the façade at different locations.
Importance of nest boxes
Current methods of renovation and construction are reducing the available space for starlings to settle and nest. An integrated nest box that can be incorporated into masonry therefore provides an effective way to offer starlings a suitable nesting site.
