This basic three-layer bat box is part of a modular range of integrated woodcrete bat boxes developed by Unitura. The integrated bat box range consists of six modular boxes that can be extended and combined without limitation. This makes it possible to create almost any type of integrated bat box configuration, entirely according to project requirements.
Suitable for
The box has been specifically designed for building-dwelling bat species. Integrated bat boxes have the greatest potential as roosts for common pipistrelles and Nathusius’ pipistrelles. In addition, the boxes may also be used by serotines, brown long-eared bats and pond bats.
Installation
The integrated box can be installed in different configurations and in different ways. The design of the box has been adapted for installation in masonry. However, the box can also be incorporated into façades with wall panels and other types of façade cladding.
The box can be installed in masonry in three ways:
– behind masonry with an entrance brick;
– within masonry, finished with brick slips;
– flush with the masonry.
Connecting boxes
The supplied boxes can be easily connected to each other on site. All elements have removable break-out panels on both sides and at the top. Where two boxes need to be connected, the break-out panel should be removed.
The break-out panel is best removed using a hammer and chisel. Once both break-out panels have been removed, the two boxes can be positioned against each other, with the newly created openings aligned.
