This woodcrete semi-open nest box is suitable for mounting onto façades. Compared with timber models, the advantage of a woodcrete nest box is that it lasts longer without maintenance.
Suitable for
This semi-open nest box has been specifically designed as a nesting site for semi-cavity nesting birds, such as the black redstart and the white wagtail. The boxes are best installed individually.
Design
Semi-open Nest Box HOTH1 has been designed as part of Unitura’s new range of external woodcrete provisions. The boxes have a modern and functional design. The sloping roof of the nest box provides drainage, helping to reduce staining on the façade.
The entrance opening is positioned on the underside of the box to prevent water ingress and to ensure that the nesting chamber remains sufficiently dark. The nest box is made entirely from woodcrete, giving it a very long service life.
Position
Depending on the target species, the box is best installed either in a high or low position. The boxes should not be exposed to direct sunlight, so install them on north- or east-facing façades, or underneath a canopy or overhang.
For black redstarts, the boxes can also be installed very effectively underneath solar panels.
Installation
The nestboxes are easy to assemble, using the included screws and instruction card.
This product is often purchased together with the VMTH1, VMTH1a, GZTH1 and HMTH1.
